The hard boundary
You set between us
Keeps the border secure
Safely contained
In the pericardium
Of your heart

Careful to not disturb
Your comfort zone
You hold me on the edge
Of a death-fall crevasse
Threatening to let go

But the blackout curtain
Of your self-imposed limits
Is in fact a semi-permeable layer
Which allows the osmosis of being
To bleed us together
Into a new life form

Like tree branches rushing close
To almost touching
branchlets in the canopy
Stopping just short—-
In a dance that draws us
Nearly intimate—-
but still allows
The light to filter
through and dapple
the forest
floor
